SUMMARY:James Lerager photography art reception
DESCRIPTION:"Marching" Photography by James Lerager\nIn Donald Trump’s fi
rst inaugural address\, he called out ‘American carnage’. Between 2017
\nand 2020\, and now again since 2025\, he is implementing carnage through
ICE and so many\nother illegal\, unconstitutional polices. During his fir
st presidency millions of Americans joined\nin Marching together – power
 fully – in Women’s\, Environment\, and other Marches. Since\nJanuary 2
025 even more millions have joined No Kings Marches and hundreds of other\
nactions across the country. James has photographed Marches in Oakland and
San Francisco\,\ngathering Marching images into extended photo-essays.\n\
nAll these Marches are acts of passion. The Marchers are energized\, enthu
siastic\, as they\nvoice and display their opposition to the orange appari
tion\, his MAGA minions and\nadministrators\, who are haunting the United
States. Many Marchers have never before\nparticipated in demonstrations. T
hey are expressing their solidarity in resisting Donald\nTrump’s apocaly
ptic proclamations\, echoed by his MAGA acolytes.\n\nIn Marching and choos
ing to act\, to organize\, we renew our own communities. We display our\nd
eep caring for our peoples\, our lands\, our futures. We March\, act\, and
organize from love\nand our belief in the power of non-violent connection
  – inspiring us to act together. Coalition\nbuilding is interwoven in th
ese Marches.\n\nJames Lerager is a Berkeley-based photojournalist and writ
er\, a UC Berkeley graduate (BA &amp\;\nMPP)\, a Peace Corps volunteer in
Ethiopia and Ghana\, a Fulbright recipient in Colombia. He\nis the author
of the books “In the Shadow of the Cloud” and “Tales from the Nuclea
r Age.”\nJames has exhibited and published across the United States and
internationally. His 35 solo\nphotographic exhibitions include UC Berkeley
 \; MIT\; Princeton\; Stanford\; Mannheim\,\nGermany\; Medellín\, Colombia
\; and Fotofest International in Houston. James can be reached\nat JL@webp
